Gorsemoor Celebrates the Queen’s Jubilee

As the nation commemorated this historic day, members of Gorsemoor played their part with a range of activities and engagement with the local community. This was a poignant moment for us as it also marked our first public engagements as the newly formed Gorsemoor Group.

To kick off the festivities, Beavers and Cubs celebrated with Jubilee themed cakes at their meeting night and camp respectively.

The Kestrel Beaver colony also paid their respects and practised their craft skills by making the Queen a personalised card.

Gorsemoor proudly took part in Ferndown town’s festivities. This involved one of our Scouts giving a reading at the special Jubilee church service where the town mayor also lit one of the nation’s many thousands of beacons.

The local events finally culminated in an afternoon picnic and entertainments on the King George V field followed by an evening firework display. Gorsemoor were present putting on fun craft activities for young children and meeting members past, present and future.
